Joe Hogan from the Geektitude and State of the Geek podcasts joins me on this solemn episode of Mating Habits of the Modern Geek. In light of all the terrible things happening in our country (and the world) at the moment, Joe and I stay in our lane and voice our support for the protests and the Black Lives Matter Movement, and then go on to chat about some lighthearted stuff like streaming shows Never Have I Ever and Upload; table-top games like the Kickstarter-only Hel and To Hunt a Killer; and a couple of true-crime podcasts thrown in for good measure.

Are online-only interactions killing the excitement and romance of a potential new
date? Do we give ourselves too much of an opportunity to mess things up because we don’t have to follow normal time constraints? Are we missing out on the other biological signals and cues because we’re not occupying the same physical space? Are we being too logical in the absence of the magic of attraction? I don’t know; do you? I’m genuinely asking.

It’s been a whole year since we Mating Habit-ed, but never fear! The show is basically the same as before: We ramble on about geeky things and useless facts well into the first hour, and casually discuss random dating topics eventually. I even fix The Business, LLC’s mic 50 minutes into the recording, so what better way to assure you that we’re still the same lovable, ASMR-style whispering goofballs that you remember from years past!

The show is going to go monthly, and possibly change format multiple times before I make up my mind about how I’d like it to go – much like my real-life dating habits – so please bear with.
