On the heels of two busy convention weeks where Sean and I ran rampant all over Dragon*Con and tiltEXPO, we get together to discuss loneliness. Your happy host had a spell of loneliness over the convention weekend, and Sean helps me figure out ways to calm the panic and resolve the issues.

Since this was recorded, I’m happy to report that I have signed up for some events and I’m well on my way to taking my own advice 🙂

We get excited about new video games coming out next month, how we both still like this new Doctor, and we fill you in on all the fun stuff that happened at all the conventions we attended since the last episode.

And we welcome William back to the show to discuss, in epic detail, the Season/Series 8 premiere of Doctor Who.

You wanted relationship advice? Oh, well, okay, we’ve got a little bit of that too. We ask ourselves the question:

If you could travel back in time and tell yourself something about the future of a relationship, what would you say (perhaps iteratively)? (Thanks, Colin!)

And we discuss what happens to relationships when people change over time. Yes, it’s still you, but you’re different somehow.

Tables get flipped over similar topics: Not all butts are drawn equally, and yes, Marvel, you’re better than DC…but that’s not saying much.

September 5-7, Mating Habits of the Modern Geek will be a panel guest at tiltEXPO at the Durham Convention Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Between panels, we’ll have a table set up to register folks for Speed Dating, taking place on Saturday starting at 3:00pm.

We’re ready to get you signed up!

This past weekend, Mating Habits of the Modern Geek held our first d/t= Speed Dating! event at Atomic Empire in Durham. With the exception of a few minor logistical issues (I rush everything!) it was an overall success.  It was great to meet so many new people, and even meet a couple of podcast fans!

We had 13 people come out and give it a shot…and some of those were even women! I know, I know; I need to market to the female audience more aggressively. It’s on the board for next time.

Yes, we have our own personal hosting service and domain name – I expect things to get more interesting (read: Complicated) in the near future.

But that’s not all we’ve done – oh, no. We’re all set for our first of what I hope will be many monthly events:

Anyway, this event will take place Saturday, January 5th at 7 pm at Atomic Empire in Durham, NC. There is a link to the registration form on the new site here:

It’s only $5, and Atomic Empire has sodas, snacks, and 6 taps of DRAFT BEER from local breweries. Oh, yeah, and things like comics, action figures, and MTG cards…whatevs.

But Wait! There’s more! Cycle 3 of The Podcast will return in full force begining January 3rd and will update biweekly as before. In the first cycle of 2013, we’ll be discussing things like What to wear on the first date, A Geeks Guide to Valentines Day, Geeks dating Non-geeks, and THE INFAMOUS SEX EPISODE, in addition to some others here and there.
