Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer is Kelley’s new church, even though she can’t get into Arrow, or Flash, or Agent Carter. Em thinks it’s due to the lack of blood and cannibals.

Em wrote a fanfic about all your favorite Alpha Counter Podcast co-hosts (which include most of your favorite Mating Habits c-hosts. All of these accomplishments before she turns 30…this week! Happy Birthday, Em!

We interview Flash Browning from the blog OkCupid Project Awful where a young professional woman in a big city changes her OKC profile to attract a certain type of guy, and then chronicles each date for our scientific enjoyment!

We get into a big discussion about why ladies act the way they do, and how a lot of times it doesn’t make sense to us either, but Em and I have some theories as to what might actually be going on.

We check in with My Fair Andrew to see how his third assignment went, what he’s up to, and what he has to do before the next episode.

Michael returns to help us navigate the choppy water known as Social Awkwardness. We offer tips from personal experience on how to get through the toughest of social situations, and ways to psyche yourself out when that inner voice is telling you everything is going to go wrong. I mean, one time I unintentionally make fun of a one-eyed barista – you can dig yourself out of any hole 😉

Why aren’t the PodPals a group of superhero, crime-fighting, cape-wearing corgis? Because we should be. Michael finishes Skyrim (current news!) and bitches about the Hobbit movies, and I make a case for Netflix’s The Fall.

Someone makes a bad first impression with me, which is hardly news-worthy, but certainly apropos. And we get another installment of My Fair Andrew, complete with new theme song!

Tables are flipped because everyone’s panties are in a bunch about an all-female Ghostbusters reboot, and apparently snow is a thing that sometimes happens in NYC.

Passivity never pays off, but being aggressive might not be in your wheelhouse – what then?

Amish Romance? It’s a thing. I am tragically white, and I apologize. While I’m finishing/shipping on Assassin’s Creed: Rogue and watching all the shoujo and boys love anime, Paris and The Business find a new show called Community, I have mixed Agent Carter feelings, and there’s a show about loli battleships that have strategic sex – thanks, Japan.

Africa is big, y’all, and not completely covered in ebola.

The Business does the Shim-sham with his Jim Jam in Dragon Age: Inquisition and we’re all loving Archer, just because. And apparently there’s a selfie stick designed especially for looking at butts? Also, what happens when women accept compliments online?

Andrew from Two Loose Screws stops by to discuss anything and everything, including Andrew’s Vine fame (Look him up – username: M3JCNV), the horrors of working retail during the holidays and returned mince meat pies, and the country song-like ballad of Grandma’s Tiny Christmas Tree.

I’m officially a member of #PodPals, Hooray! I finish Dragon Age: Inquisition, fail at doing so on Twitch, and finally try Destiny, which is pretty fun.

Hackers are bullshit assholes, both at home and abroad.

We go deep with a discussion about the Doctor Who Christmas Special, The Last Christmas. It’s a Mating Habits tradition.

New Episode Segment: May Fair Andrew

Andrew plays the Audrey Hepburn to my Rex Harrison (go watch some great classic movies, damn it!) in a new segment called: “My Fair Andrew” where we follow his progress as he builds his self-confidence and gets better at meeting and talking to new people. We’ll be checking in on him as the weeks go by to follow his progress through different challenges that should help him get better at socializing with strangers and building confidence. Wish him luck!

Pro-tip: Don’t ask people questions like, “How much does your skin weigh on its own?”

You won’t get advice of this quality anywhere else – guaranteed.

Mating Habits of the Modern Geek 2014 Holiday Spectacular!

We gather together at this special time of year to celebrate friendship and fandom. I set up in the kitchen studio of The Business, LLC and Paris, and Sean and Vane Ryan of AlphaCounter come by to make merry.

I did a twitch thing – twice! And I am wracked with guilt about killing sleepy dragons.

Steven Segal saves Christmas. Jem and the Holograms are back, and they’re not grunge. Thundercats are still RAD, and The Secret is bullshit.

We premier our newest business venture were we dress as post-apocalyptic bards and we sing about ’80s and ’90s action movies as if they were real historical epics at RenFaires and Cons.

There’s a lot of singing in this episode, and none of us were drinking. We have a Total Eclipse of the Heart, thanks Bonnie Tyler!

I announce a new episode segment for 2015 that involves Andrew from Two Loose Screws where we follow his step by step progress in gaining confidence and getting out there to meet new people. I want to apologize in advance to him if I decide to call the segment, “My Fair Andrew.”

Mating Habits takes in on the road to the Two Loose Screws studio and tries to acclimate to the comic stylings of Jason Roberson and Andrew Bartlett.

In this deluxe-length show, we talk about disappointing zombie movies, we finally get “Suspender’s Chair” on the show. We talk about casting pods, and why I sound like Bruce from Family Guy sometimes.

We get down and dirty with stories from my past in the adult entertainment industry, offensive shirts from band trips, and I question the guys about their dreams and aspirations for life, and for the show.

In true Mating Habits fashion, we swap awkward dating stories and Jason flips a table I thought I already righted from podcasts past. I laugh at folks who don’t understand the difference between censorship and the free market system, and Andrew doesn’t understand what part of customer manners you don’t understand.

Kevin and I (and Paris) have fun NCComicon-style, there’s a small Interstellar review, and I finally buy a PS4 so I can play Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Lately, everyone’s upset about one thing or another, and we’ve collected our thoughts about one slice of the “Offensive Pie” – How to not piss off folks who don’t fit in the gender binary. There are several ways your conversation can go wrong when speaking with someone who is transgendered, non-heterosexual, et cetera. The good news is that your intent can be a life saver.

We also discuss things from the other side of this “divide” as folks who fit the binary, but who also want to educate themselves, make everyone feel welcome, but also don’t want to be yelled at for trying 🙂

This week, MHMG welcomes the lovely and talented Vane Ryan (Sean’s better half) to the show to join Sean and I in discussing the success story of their relationship. Michael is back in the USA just in time to help me celebrate the legalization of gay marriage in North Carolina! I join a 12-step program over Alien: Isolation, and I have concerns about the upcoming Justice League and Wonder Woman movies.

I explain the “White Girl Crack” of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, we talk way too long about dry-ass turkey at Thanksgiving, and I fail at finding the Matt Smith nudes – and Michael is surprisingly no help.

Michael’s playing this great new game called Skyrim, because it’s 2011, and he offends people with his Halloween blackface and his Hitler Youth haircut. 🙂

We finally talk about dating and relationship issues after about an hour and a half, so pretty much on par for the show.

Prompted by a listener email, we discuss some of the things that might be happening if you’re getting the first dates, but not the second date. It could be nerves, sticking your foot in your mouth, or maybe it’s for the best. Not everyone is going to like you, and that’s a good thing.

Also, we obsess over those text and message dots like it’s our job. WTF?

We flip tables over the scourge of the earth – SPIDERS! and how irritating it is for people to share how awesome their significant other is over social media. No, we’re not bitter 🙂
