Episode 28 – Meeting New People: Break the Rules and Talk to Strangers
We’re breaking all the rules in this episode of Mating Habits! Alpha Counter’s Sean Ryan and I discuss the tricks to having a good conversation with complete strangers in Lesson 2 of MHMG Learning Annex – Becoming comfortable conversing with others. We go back and forth about why talking to folks we don’t know is difficult and sometimes makes us look like creeps, and how Sean might have missed his calling as Sean Ryan: Marketing Rapist.
We recap Sean’s almost hot-n-heavy DragonCon experience with “The Lady in The Loft,” I go into WAY too much detail about my recent sex life, and then we flip tables over dickwolves, Nazis, and Heroes of Cosplay – typical MHMG tableflip ๐

Ep. 27 – Getting to Know Yourself: Not in the Biblical Sense
Cycle 6 begins with our first installment of the five-part series: MHMG Learning Annex! School’s in session, and in this first lesson, we discuss ways to build your self confidence by taking the time to figure out the positive aspects of who you are. It’s your uniqueness that makes you a valuable human being, and recognizing those unique qualities in a positive way is the only way to build confidence and make yourself more attractive to others.
“Paris” and “The Business, LLC” join me to recap parts of Dragon*Con 2013 and make an important relationship announcement. The Business shares the “Knuckle Scale of Attractiveness” and talks about “Building your Confidence Armor;” Paris gets real and admits her Reddit addiction; and I am awesome, as per usual.
We exhaust ourselves flipping tables over nerd-herd movement, lack of signage, giant backpacks and general dickery in cons, lack of curiosity about life, and shitty, shitty friends. Get into it!
*SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT* DragonCon 2013
Hey Listeners!
Here’s a quick update about the exciting goings-on at DragonCon 2013, and some delicious tidbits about what’s coming up in Cycle 6, returning September 9th! Take 15 minutes and catch up with your old friend, Kelley, and hear the good news ๐
Episode 26 – Stats and Standards: “Y’all Got Issues”
We’re 1 Year Old! Mating Habits presents our last episode of Cycle 5 where William and I break it down in plain English: There’s a reason why your online dating messages may not be getting a response, or why you may not be getting unsolicited messages from women. I finally announce my new Single Status, William and I share our latest “encounters” on OkCupid, and we dissect an interesting experiment performed by Jon Millward where it shows how women receive so many more unsolicited messages than men, she may be too fed up with “Hey, sexy,” and “Wanna fuck?” messages by the time she gets to yours – I know I am.
We also discuss how taking care of yourself and working on your outside appearance can help bolster the awesomeness you have inside. #fitness is the hottest hashtag of the summer, and taking care of your health and/or your appearance can help you build confidence, and help rejection hurt less. You don’t have to start working out everyday or buy a whole new wardrobe, but some simple changes can help you make the best impression possible.
Tables are flipped over the Reaction TO the Reaction TO the announcement of the 12th Doctor – folks overreact to the under reaction, and we react to that.
It’s been an amazing year, and we’re not stopping anytime soon. Thank you for listening, for all of your support, and looking forward to many, many more years here at Mating Habits of the Modern Geek!

Episode 25 – The Pick-Up Artist: Learn to Annoy Women and Strike Out with Finesse
If you’re looking to improve your chances with women, listen to MHMG. If you want to annoy 90% of the women around you and end up with the drunkest woman with the lowest self-esteem left at the bar, read a Pick-Up Artist-style “Seduction Manual.”
Join Alpha Counter’s Sean Ryan and me as we discuss what’s wrong with programs that promise you sex with high numbers of beautiful women. We tell the truth about The Mystery Method, and call out all the rest on their bullshit. Tables are flipped on behalf of women everywhere when we take the infamous Kickstarter Rape-Manual to task for being the epitome of doucheness.
ALSO: I tell you how to actually hook up at a convention. One-night-stands are a rite of passage, and as long as everyone knows what they’re getting, can be fun and enjoyable for all involved.

Ep.24 – Geek Pride: The LGBTQ Episode!
I have a “Gay Old Time” this week with Michael calling in to co-host the first ever MHMG LGBTQ Edition! You cried out for it, so Michael and discuss what it’s like to be a single homosexual geek in the dating scene, what online resources and phone apps you can use to meet people, and how joining and starting LGTBQ + Straight Ally groups in your area not only benefit the community, but put you one step closer to meeting new people.
Michael and I have a BioWare-gasm in ShipperWars where we discuss every relationship choice in every BioWare franchise, and how everyone can agree that Alistair from Dragon Age: Origins is the bestest boyfriend ever, no matter your gender.
We Flip an important Table over the regressive path the great State of North Carolina is taking in recent months, and we basically tell the government to stay out of our bodies! (Be forewarned, I had to edit out 45 minutes of political topics from this Flippin’ Tables, so consider yourself lucky.)
There are Mass Effect spoilers, links below to other gay podcasts, cats in drag, and the parting knowledge that the summer’s hottest hashtag is #fitness. Get into it!
