Ep.52 – Looks vs Personality: Beauty is in the Eyestalks of the Beholder

Beholder_ScottMFischer

http://traffic.libsyn.com/matinghabitsofthemoderngeek/Ep52_MHMG.mp3

We’re back, recording from the home studio (or kitchen – whatevs) of Paris and The Business, LLC!

Apparently, I’m the only person in the whole wide world who eats Brach’s candy corn pumpkins, which can’t possiby be true.

Additionally, we were all terrible at summer camp, IMDB doesn’t mean what Kevin thinks it means, and Paris learns what a grundle is, and is forever changed.

Kevin breaks down the question of Looks vs Personality by comparing it to Random Encounters vs Boss Battles in video games. The better looking folks may have more random encounters, but good personalities can get you to the boss battles, which are the one’s with the best “item drops.”

Oh, and The Business is the “Quiet Storm” for no reason whatsoever.

We flip tables over bad planning, media haters, and The Red Pill movement, like you do

Ep.47 – Hey, Hey, You, You: I Don’t Like Your Girlfriend

MHMG_BallPit

http://traffic.libsyn.com/matinghabitsofthemoderngeek/Ep.47_MHMG.mp3

We’re back! Paris and The Business, LLC lend me their “studio” in this rambling episode where we discuss what to do if your friends and family don’t like your significant other, or what might be going on if you don’t like your friends’ significant others – 60 minutes into the show (in true MHMG Fashion).

We wax poetic about our favorite Netflix Originals; The Business, LLC has a fangasm over Dark Secrets, and we examine what happens when all the neckbeards don their fedoras and cry like babies over the latest Thor news.

Also, Dashcon was kind of an epic fail…a funny epic fail, but an epic fail all the same.

A spider tries to kill me and take over the show, and I flip tables over fan-entitlement, and The Business definitely doesn’t want to do work at your house.

BONUS: If you make it to the end of this episode, you get one extra hour in the ball pit!

Ep.46 – Looking for Group: Put Your Keys in the Bowl!

http://traffic.libsyn.com/matinghabitsofthemoderngeek/Ep46_MHMG.mp3

We’ve got an extra-long episode to keep you guys going during the break. Join Paris, The Business, LLC, and me – along with three interviews with people who are in non-manogamous relationships — as we delve into one of the most requested episode topics in Mating Habits history:

What’s up with all these open relationships and polyamorous folks?

The Business and I have a deep, theological discussion about the origin of the Smurfs, the existence of Smurf ejaculate, and a UNICEF ad that blew my mind. Paris tells us about how she and The Business have stepped outside their comfort zone and joined a kickball team – what the what?

Then, I welcome Vee, Jamie, and Josh to the show, where they open up about their current and past experiences with non-manogamy. Hopefully, what they share will inform, enlighten, and entertain you guys as much as it did me.

We flip tables over Ubisofts dumb response, Anita (I call her Anna the whole time) Sarkeesian’s latest offering, and people hating on the tiny Prius. They see you rollin’. They hatin’, Paris.

Ep.42 – The Bro-isode: Chicks, Am I Right?

Hey dudes, quit storming the castle and come listen to this podcast.

Hey dudes, quit storming the castle and come listen to this podcast.

Welcome new co-host, Roger, to the MHMG Team where in this episode, I let the men run rampant with their thoughts and opinions (an answer to Ep.20 – Girls, Girls, Girls: The Geek Girl Experience). We tackle some of the more common problems that male geeks can face when interacting with people they’d like to give face kisses to.

We also waste a bunch of time discussing things like the future Justice League movie, Tokyo Jungle, and how wrong Roger is about Godzilla.

Individual table flips happen in five-minute bursts and an absent co-host will learn a valuable lesson about canceling on us and not showing up to the show 🙂

This is pretty much the uniform of anyone who co-hosts this show...I have requirements.

Paris and The Business are back! We wade through some of the things that might ruin your relationship, or things that might be holding you back from finding a relationship of your own.

We cover wide-ranging topics from the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle trailer to Puzzles and Dragons; and Attack on Titan to dishwasher meth. Paris spells out her plans to become a YouTube sensation (which gets edited out for patent reasons) and defends her obvious and blatant racism.

Tables are flipped over Facebook quizzes, Weather-wrongs, and people trying too hard to be different.

Kicking off 2014, Paris and The Business, LLC, help me dig our way out from under the Polar Vortex to wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Sharing between us 2 colds, not enough sleep, and some University-Issued Sudafed, we spend the first hour and a half of this epic podcast discussing Beyond: Two Souls, eating the Peacekeeper Guards in Catching Fire, saying a tearful goodbye to Doctor Who and a squee-filled hello to Sherlock, Season 3.

I issue a heart-felt apology to the Brony Community, and finally understand why friendship really is magic, and Kevin gives his own online dating tips for all the geeky ladies out there, and informs me that “Cat hair is lonely-people glitter. I may have cried a little.

At time marker 1:30, we finally get into the main topic about tackling the big issues in a relationship. When’s the right time to discuss moving in together, marriage, introducing kinks, religion – you know, the awkward conversations where timing is half the battle.

Tables are flipped in regards to the weather, the people who get crazy about said weather, and the people who get crazy about the people who get crazy about it. Also, why you can’t use tornados for ratings.

Ep. 27 – Getting to Know Yourself: Not in the Biblical Sense

Cycle 6 begins with our first installment of the five-part series: MHMG Learning Annex! School’s in session, and in this first lesson, we discuss ways to build your self confidence by taking the time to figure out the positive aspects of who you are. It’s your uniqueness that makes you a valuable human being, and recognizing those unique qualities in a positive way is the only way to build confidence and make yourself more attractive to others.

“Paris” and “The Business, LLC” join me to recap parts of Dragon*Con 2013 and make an important relationship announcement. The Business shares the “Knuckle Scale of Attractiveness” and talks about “Building your Confidence Armor;” Paris gets real and admits her Reddit addiction; and I am awesome, as per usual.

We exhaust ourselves flipping tables over nerd-herd movement, lack of signage, giant backpacks and general dickery in cons, lack of curiosity about life, and shitty, shitty friends. Get into it!

You asked the questions, and we rolled the dice and answered them. Join me, Sean Ryan, The Business, and Paris as we share our own views and experiences, discuss our opinions, and tirelessly pick through my research (thanks, Internet!)

We’ll navigate the tricky labyrinth of SEX with topics including (but not limited to) dirty talk, the truth about stamina, and mythical animal replica penises. There’s no such thing as TMI in this episode, so let your freak flag fly with us – we’re a real bunch of weirdos.
